I am glad this animation doesn’t offend me. When I heard about a 3D CG Peanuts movie I got nervous. Hopefully paired with The Lego Movie, this is that start of people using animation (where you, in theory, can do ANY style) shows folks doing things beyond the Pixar/Shrek style.
I think what I like most about this is that it reminds me of the old Peanuts View-master reels, which were an awesome three-dimensional version of Schulz’s style. (Do a google image search for “viewmaster Peanuts” and you’ll see what I mean if you don’t already know.)
Also, Paul Feig attaching his name to this means it won’t shy away from melancholy and hard emotions. After all, Freaks & Geeks is probably one of the more Peanutsesque shows of all time, right? I can imagine a teenage Charlie Brown going through a lot of the same stuff Nick Andopolis went through.
My favorite sentence of the day:
"I can imagine a teenage Charlie Brown going through a lot of the same stuff Nick Andopolis went through."
